The Present

21st Century Essay

21st Century is the era we are on. It is the time of the modern technology. Innovations and great inventions are the highlights of this century. It is the present and it is everything.

The life we have is our everything. It is something that we must hold on so dearly. Life would not be complete without happiness and sadness. There are a lot of problems that we will encounter in our lives.

With the problems coming along our way, we must make sure to keep holding on. We must always remember that God will never give us problems that we can not handle. God loves us so much that everything he plans and does for us is for our good. Problems are just trials that makes us stronger.

In our time, there are a lot of problems faced by our country and society. One of this is poverty. Poverty is a problem that is very common in third world countries like the Philippines. Poverty is when someone cannot afford his or her physiological needs or having little money to none.  Everywhere in the streets of our country we can see beggars. Kids, adults and teens are begging for money or food in highways, restaurants and etc.
Poverty is something that is escapable especially if the person experiencing it strives hard to be different and away from it. If a person is determined to a particular goal then surely no matter how hard it is he or she will succeed. Experiencing poverty is hard that is why they say in tagalog “Mahirap maging mahirap”. It is hard but if you are determined you can find ways to make your life better.

As of now what also increases the rate of poverty is corruption. Corruption is present among corrupt officials or leaders in the government who chooses to dwell in the money of the people instead of using them to help the people.

Corruption is the reason why other people are experiencing poverty. The money they worked hard for
are being used selfishly by corrupt people. On a normal setting, people who sit idly have more money to earn than those who work hard sunkissed and dangerously.

To cure poverty change must come first among ourselves. Second, the government must help its people to lift themselves. Third, the government must be a help to the people and not another hindrance for their success. Lastly, Give what is rightfully appropriate for the person. If a person works hard for it give the credit to them, He or she deserves it.

In our time, we are able to know news and stories inside and outside our country. With the use of social media news and information are easily spread than before where pigeons are used as messengers. In social medias we usually see stories about real life experiences such as kids working at a young age to earn money or people doing high risk jobs just to earn minimal money. It is good that social media is present so this issues can be an eye opener to each and everyone. With the social media making this issues viral the chances that the government’s attention will be captured and they can help solve the problem.

Social media is beneficial to us.Social media is an invention brought to us by web developers that helps us communicate with others and entertain us at the same time. Social media is a big help to any individual. It is now considered as an essential in our daily lives.

Social media is powerful because it very influential. Users from other country can view what you have posted if it is in public. That is why an individual must be careful about what he or she is posting. Thinking before you click is a must.

If a use is cautious about what he or she is posting cyberbullying can be prevented. Cyberbullying is also one of the 21st century issues. It is where someone is bullied or attacked online. Cyberbullying should not be tolerated and must be ceased.

In case you encounter cyberbullying online save the victim and help the bully.  Defend thr victim and let the bully know that he or she is wrong. Let the bully know what he or she should be doing instead of bullying. Help the bully to avoid bullying again. Also save the victim bu giving words of advice and offering friendship. Let him or her know that everyone matters and everyone is special and unique in his or her own ways. Lastly, do not tolerate cyberbullying and do not be part of it.

With the use of social media I have seen different parts of the world. I have always dreamt of travelling the whole world. Honestly, I really plan to migrate to US after finishing college. I plan to work there with my aunt. Migration is the act of migrating or transferring to another place. I myself would love to migrate but I am not saying that I do not love our country neither is it beautiful.

Our country Philippines is a tropical and very inviting country. It is one of the most heart warming and eye capturing countries in the world. Although Philippines is known for its boost on the tourism aspect poverty is still a problem. Many Filipinos chose to go abroad because they think there are better opportunities outside our country. A lot of professionals migrate to other countries because they think they can maximize their potentials in another country.

Then I realized, I am also planning to do the same. I realized I will become an OFW too someday. OFWS or Overseas Filipino workers are considered modern super heroes. There the heroes of every family they support in our country. OFWS are considered heroes because they give service to someone who is not blood related to them and at the same time they can withstand the pain of being lonely and homesick because of being away from their family just to have a bigger income.

I respect OFWS because they work hard for their families. They are doing their jobs and making their families and our country proud. OFWS are one of the highly sought after workers abroad because of their unique and great quality of work and concern for others. Hopefully with the opportunities present for everyone poverty can be diminished.

The perfect mom

For me a wise person is someone who knows what is right or wrong. A wise person is also someone who is not easily swayed by his or her emotions. He or she always win. I also define a wise person as someone who can survive any situation like in the movie hunger games, Katniss is a wise person because she was able to defeat enemies even stronger than her by using her intellect.

In my life, I also want to be a wise person. I want to make a mark in this world. I want to avoid doing the bad things and continue to do what is good. I want to be someone that would be a good example to everyone.

One of my goals in life is to be someone who influences other people to be successful. I believe that being a wise person can lead me to success. For me a wise person would be someone that a lot of people would look up to. A wise person is someone who always succeed even if life pulls down the best of him or her.

One quote that reminds me of a wise person is “Winning is not always winning the battle... but rising every time you fall” by Napoleon Bonaparte. Although Napoleon Bonaparte is known to be a great emperor and military commander, he knows that winning is not always winning. For some instances in life losing and committing mistakes are one of the greatest teachers we can have. Mistakes and defeats should be accepted and solved.

As for me, I have seen a lot of people fall but after some time rise again. My friends would usually cry over heartbreaks, failures, mistakes, problems and such. At first they would be held by their emotions, but after sometime they would be able to decide properly for themselves and solve their problems. With this, I learned that if one is overwhelmed by too much emotions  a persom would not be able to decide or think properly and would be a hindrance for him or her to be a wise person.

To help me know who is a wise person for me our teacher gave us 5 traits of a wise person. This traits were very much true. Our teacher also said that if a person is overwhelmed by emotions and cannot decide properly then he or she would not be a wise person. This gave me more idea on how to choose my wise person.

The first trait given to us by our teacher is knowing what one knows and does not know. Second, a wise person is someone having justified true beliefs. Third, a wise person knows things that are valuable in life. Fourth, a wise person has the ability to put knowledge into practice. Lastly, a wise person knows what should be done and acts accordingly.

For me, My mom is a wise person.  Although there are a lot of problems she still manages to be strong for me. She is a one of a kind women. She knows what is right for me.

My mother, Elsa David possesses all the traits of a wise person. First she knows what one knows and does not know. She is a great teacher to me because she knows a lot more than I know. Especially in
house hold chores and other experiences that I could not learn from school.
Second, She justifies true beliefs. She sticks with her opinions and beliefs. Especially if she knows she is right.

Third, she knows what is valuable in life, she does not waste money on unnecessary things she only use money on things that are essential to our lives. Fourth, if she has knowledge she uses it wisely. Lastly, she knows what to do she uses her wisdom in our daily lifes and makes sure that I also do well same as her.

We are the champions!

JOURNAL 3

August 17 🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺

The day is memorable for me because I missed out 3 days of classes. At this point in my life I like attending classes more than skipping classes. Eversince, I became a Senior high school student my priority is my studies. I prefer attending my classes than chasing out all that I missed. I know that win or lose I am developing my skills.Winning is my goal but I know there is more to every competition than just winning. With the competitions that I joined I know that I am growing and I get better all the time.

This are some of my friends who also joined the contest. Win or lose we already are winners!

Here is a photo when we went out to eat after a very tiring day.

I got myself a treat!

Finally the exams are finished!

JOURNAL 2

August 11

The exams just ended. Thankyou Lord! Hopefully I did well with my exams. Wishfully thinking that everyone would pass and have high grades. The picture shows me and my close friend. I meant mythical like legendary because we are friends even in our elementary days. In the picture we were posing like the one in Metro Magazine but it didn’t turn out to be like that. Instead, the picture looked cute and funny at the same time. The picture brings an aura that we care for each  other and are really close friends.

This is melissa and asley. They are also my friends. We are all still rejoicing because of our exams. Job well done for each and everyone of us! It was a tough day but all of us managed to finish our exams. Everything we did was worth it.

A day where I reflected about my future

Going to college is one thing that gives me feelings like riding a roller coaster. It makes me feel excited, scared, thrilled, happy, and sad and much more feelings. It is one thing that I have in mind today. One of these days, I would go to universities or colleges that I really want to see.

Since I am now a grade 12 student, I should now be thinking at my future. I should now be thinking of my future (of course my mom is included in my future) It is only now that reality strike me. I am now more open minded with the world. I think a lot more than I talk. Now, I believe that I should be critical in whatever I do.

Committing mistakes is one thing that I am afraid of. One thing that is marked on my mind is that society is scary. Whatever we make or do everyone will judge us. Nobody can please everyone.

I believe that I am not born to please everyone; I know that in this world. I cannot please everyone no matter how hard I try, what matters to me is that I am happy. I want to be happy and at the same time not hurting anyone or stepping other people’s happiness. I want to help others and still shoe concern and affection to them but if they don’t need my help well then, at least I tried reaching my hand to them.

Ever since I turned 18, I started signing papers, accepting stuffs, try to be independent in a way and a lot more that I have not done yet before. It’s something that scared me because I am used to depend always on my mom to do things like that for me. Even the simple act of ordering food in a restaurant. But now I am starting to practice myself on doing this stuff. My mom wants me to be someone who can stand alone and at the same time never forgets his or her parents.

Ever since I was a kid I have always wanted to be a Doctor. First a pediatrician, second a dermatologist then a surgeon and now I am again thinking on what would be my specialization once I enter med school after my Bachelor’s degree. But for now, I know that whatever I would take in college would be something in lined with medicine. Since any med course would be a key to enter a med school and finally my Dad’s sisters encouraging me to take nursing. Nursing is in demand abroad if I wanted to work abroad.

Lately, I feel so pressured and excited. Going to college scares me. Since I want to help my family, I am trying to get a scholarship in De La Salle Health and Sciences Institute. Looking at the requirements needed to be a scholar gave me a lot of pressure. There is one scholarship that requires a GWA of 95 which is something that I cannot be consistent with. This requirement makes me feel sad. Good thing is that there are a lot more scholarships that I can acquire. There is one called Financial Scholarship where the requirement is easier. One must have grades not lower than 85 and a GWA not less than 87 which is something that I can work or manage.

Hopefully I can get a scholarship. It is really a big help for me and for my mom (of course) GOD IS GOOD!!! I know that with this I am bound to focus a lot more in academics. Going out with friends or other stuff can wait what matters to me most is finishing college with a good record and a scholarship. If lucky enough being a Summa Cum Laude would be great. (Just like my cousins in Quezon City) For this would be a good opportunity for me to have great jobs.

I know that my mom would not let me be alone in this journey. I know that she would always be there for me, to guide and support me all the way. She only wants me to be a successful in life with God’s grace always. For now there are a lot of things that my mom does not allow me to have or do but I know that this also for my sake.

I have always dreamt to go abroad with my mom. Buy everything that we both want, have our dream house, be with the rest of our family and live longer. This is my own goal that I would do. My happiness includes my mom, our family and my friends. They are the people that matters most to me.

Once I have my own money, I will use it wisely. I will only buy the things that I need and the ones I want I will buy them sparingly. For in life I want to save up for my future. I want to have my own money enough to support myself; my mom and our family. I do not want to be a burden to anybody or anyone. As of now, I am trying my best to have good grades. But, at the same time I am aiming to have a good and high grade. I eat regularly with my friends. We would go to karaoke often usually at Fridays like today. We would just sing our heart out until; we feel that we are okay and contented.

My friends are composed of my classmates, ex-classmates, online friends and some from our family friends. I am not really picky when it comes to friends. (Just like what my mom says “mana ka sa papa mo” I am sure that they are good friends to me front and at my back. I still believe on the goodness of each and every one. avoid judging other people because I know the feeling of being judged. I also know the feeling of being bullied, being an outcast and unlike. So if I am faced in a situation where I put other people in feeling left out or such I immediately say sorry. Most of the time I avoid doing this things because I know it is wrong.. I was raised by my parents properly and they always tell me to be good t everyone even if they do bad things to me.

Hopefully as I grow older, I remain to be an optimistic person. I want to be someone who has a light aura. I want to be someone who is not being avoided instead likes by everyone. Although I know it is impossible, at least I tried to make an effort in befriending them.

Based on my observations on my older friends, when they were on high school they were as vibrant as I am. But as they grow older finished their college and go to work, they tend to be stressed always. The positive vibes coming from them slowly fades as time passes by. Most of my friends older than me are always busy. We only get to meet at our birthdays or special events. It is also a lot harder to contact them now since they are very busy. But once we meet again all the times that we were not together feels like nothing. Our friendship makes stronger than the time and distance.

My best friend is Kassandra Marie Angeles whom I meet on my 4th grade. We only recognized that we are best friend when we were around grade 10-11. Since it is the time when she and I would part ways. In grade 11. She transferred to DLSU. She is an ABM student and I am a STEM. Although we are on different tracks, I am happy because we both make efforts to be together. This made our bonding and relationship stronger. It is true then that distance makes our friendship last and stronger. I also believe that if a person is special to me I would make ways to be with her. With my best friend, she made realized that. It is nice to have friends. Opening up to other people is not a bad thing. You just have to pick the person you would trust to open up. She made me also friendlier. Just like my mom she is always there for me when I need help. She sometimes guides me to give advices. I am very happy to have her as m bestfriend.I would not put our friendship into waste. She makes me happy and contented as well. I hope that were really friends until we reach our goals in life.

In life, I usually reflect about my intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships with myself and other people. I think deeply on how to improve myself so that I can be better (Just like my parents says, “make yourself a better one, not for anybody else but for yourself”) Usually before I sleep, I think of things that I’ve done. Right or wrong I think of them again and how I should have reacted or acted upon the situation. Would it be better or would it be worse if I did the tings oppositely to what I did originally? There are  a lot of things that I regret and would want to change but I know that all these things happened to me has reasons why it happened? For me, if there is destiny then why are there things that are unexplainable. Why are there things like natural disasters, birth, death and other things that us humans can’t control. The life that we have is only a gift to us from GOD.
